Ano Gatzea · Pelion · Greece
A fully renovated century-old home in the village of Ano Gatzea. Previously home to the Olive & Oil Museum, renovated into a modern villa with three en-suite bedrooms overlooking the Pagasetic Gulf.
The House
Built in 1924 by Ioannis D. Voyatzis next to the Ano Gatzea train station and in the middle of an olive grove, Pelion Muse is a house that has always carried a clear sense of itself — stone walls built to last, rooms that held the warmth of four generations, and a garden of old olive trees that have watched the peninsula change slowly around them.
Its katoi — the vaulted lower floor — served for nearly seventy years as a working olive press and agricultural store, before being transformed in 2007 into the family's Olive & Oil Museum. The museum operated for over a decade, welcoming visitors to one of the most complete collections of olive cultivation tools in the region, before closing its doors in 2020.
Recently renovated as a modern retreat, the house pairs its original wooden doors, high ceilings and stone walls with modern en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a vast living space and high-speed WiFi — aiming to make the house as cosy, welcoming, enjoyable, minimalist and comfortable.
